The primary objects of investigation are health, husbandry, genetics and fiber characteristics of Camelids. The association provides numerous grants for useful investigations concerning these animals and improvement of the breed. Everyone is welcome to make a donation to this charitable organization.

This organization was established by the ARI Board of Directors in Colorado in 1997. The aim of this non-profit corporation is to educate the public about these unique animals and encourage and support studies that benefit the textile industry in North America.
