Alpaca Llama -
conservation, hunting
Both these animals belong to the camelid family, which originated about 40 million years ago. They were domesticated by Incas for their wool and also provided transport, food, fuel and companionship. Selective breeding made the fiber of the animals finer. Both of the alpaca llama species are protected by conservation and hunting laws.
