Alpaca Prices
Alpaca prices are indeed high as a result of import/export conservation practices and slow reproduction of babies.
The herd sire may cost up to $90,000, and adult females reach $30,000. Pet quality animals range from $2000 to $5000, but they cannot be used for breeding. But these animals are very undemanding in keeping and will bring 2-4 kg of pure fiber each year.

Alpaca Prices -
conservation, babies
These animals cost rather much and the situation is unlikely to change, because the population of camelids is very scarce in the USA; the import from South America is limited, the natural reproductive rate of these animals is very slow, and the artificial insemination is difficult. Alpaca prices are indeed high as a result of import/export conservation practices and slow reproduction of babies.
